20 + years experience teaching
Now we’ve helped thousands of students accomplish their reading goals and reduce the impact of dyslexia. But when we first started more than 20 years ago we were frustrated by the resources and teaching methods that were being used.
It seemed that educators, teachers and schools could only offer assistive technology such as recorders, scribes, reading assistants, extra time in exams and so on. A type of band-aid or plaster approach.
In short the emphasis was on reducing the symptoms and not on helping the student to improve their skills and confidence

But lots were held back as the academic curriculum got more and more complex. They were not able to compensate for their dyslexia by simply working harder or having an assistant. Brain Changes in Children with Dyslexia - research
In research completed in Stanford University in the United States functional MRI was performed on 20 children with dyslexia (8–12 years old) during phonological processing before and after a remediation program focused on auditory processing and oral language training.
Behaviorally, training improved oral language and reading performance. Physiologically, children with dyslexia showed increased activity in multiple brain areas. Click here
These findings led to the development of the Fast ForWord program, a groundbreaking computer-based reading intervention. The scientists then licenced their program via their universities to help struggling readers.
Why was it made in the first place?
Our brains were created to reinvent and reconfigure themselves throughout our lifetimes. This ability is known as brain plasticity. Fast ForWord was one of the first programmes that applied this scientific knowledge to education.
Another study showed progressive training such as Fast ForWord could actually accelerate the rate at which the brain changed.
